Using Secondary Constant Current to gain control of your resistance welding process can result in less down time, reduced scrap, and higher production efficiencies.

Miyachi's Weltouch(tm) AC weld controls with secondary constant current feedback examine each half cycle of the actual weld current flow and compensate for the changes in secondary current during welding. Standard built-in current and conduction degree monitors allow for simultaneous viewing of both programmed and actual weld conditions. Miyachi's secondary constant current feedback combined with our built-in weld monitors can provide a higher degree of accuracy, confidence, and control in AC resistance welding. The Weldtouch SC-210 and CY-110B offer a variety of SCR sizes and optional contactor accessories. The Weldtouch CY-210b and CT-110B are easily adaptable to most existing contractor cabinets.

The following graphs show the difference a Constant Current Control can make:

Constant Current Feedback Theory
Using a toroidal coil, the current wave form is reconstructed from the output signal. It is then transformed into an RMS effective value using the following formula:
Constant Current Feedback Theory
The control then compares this effective value with the set current value. The weld current is corrected with every half cycle through phase conversion and trigger pulse oscillation. The result is smooth, consistent secondary welding current delivered at the weld regardless of the line voltage fluctuations.
